![]() Al saw more, so he lost more compared to the others, which is what we discover in the anime. So as of me writing this, both other commenters u/Phlappy_Phalanges and u/Multi_Tunes have given great answers. TL DR: its weird that ed and al lost so much for attempting the same thing as izumi and scar’s brother who lost things significantly less in comparison to the brothers. ![]() what did they do more than izumi and scar’s brother to lose so much? ) but at the end of the day it still doesn’t add up. scar’s brother, however tried to bring back an adult and lost only his member.ĭoes human transmutation cost different for every alchemist that tries it? i mean all cases are similar, the punishments all seemed ironic ( by that i mean - izumi tried to bring back her child so she lost the ability to have one at all, scar’s brother tried to bring back his lover and lost the ability to make love (or however else u guys understand it as) ed wanted to bring his mom back and as a result lost more of his already small family, its like a pattern, get the opposite of what u want on an even higher price! u go truth. no matter how i think of it it doesnt seem equal to me? i was thinking - maybe the reason izumi lost only organs was bc she tried to bring back a baby, but then again a soul is a soul whether its a child or a grown up adult, so that doesnt really make a change. meanwhile two people who attempted it (ed and al) lost a whole person PLUS a limb from the other. What i mean is -> izumi lost a couple of vital organs and scar’s brother lost his big bud. i gave izumi and scar’s brother (in 03) as an example as to why transmutations ( even human ones ) dont always need souls in exchange and it made me wonder - why did they lose a lot less than ed and al? So basically i was responding to someone asking why in the end of the 2009 anime ed didnt have to pay with souls to get al back or something (?) and as i was writing an ever so long essay of a response i noticed something i hadn’t before. ![]() Its my first time posting here and not just writing comments or responding to such and so as i was doing my above-mentioned duties i had a random moment of realisation. Knowing what the act of becoming a killer would torment Winry, Ed did everything he could to convince her - and ultimately, she realized he was right.NOTE: Currently set to private due to Reddit's API changes, see Ĭome post anything related to the Fullmetal Alchemist anime and manga franchise! Ed intervened, putting himself in between Winry and Scar, risking his life to shield her from her parents' killer and from making a life-changing decision.Įd had many reasons to make this daring move, mainly to prevent Winry from falling victim to the endless and futile cycle of hatred and destruction. Scar warned Winry that if she fired at him, he would attack her, and this moment would decide if Winry was a killer at heart. Winry seized a pistol and went after Scar in a fit of rage and grief, but when she came face to face with him, she hesitated. Later in the series, Winry learned that her parents' killer - the vengeful Ishvalan monk nicknamed Scar - was on the loose.
